Trips on the Horizon

August: Oregon.
Going with Tracie to visit her home state. Flying into Portland, driving down the coast to Grants Pass (her hometown), and flying back out of Portland after spending a day or two there. I can't wait; it'll be the first time I visit the Pacific Northwest and have heard great things about Oregon's scenery. We should also be seeing Crater Lake too. I'm really looking forward to seeing the ocean from a new place as well!

May 2007: Rome.
Yes, Rome, Italy. Family trip. More details to come as plans get fleshed out. My parents heard that it's probably more economical to rent an apartment for the week we're there, so I've been hunting for places to stay on Rental in Rome and have been finding some interesting places. I need to start contacting them about availability because they say book WELL in advance (like a year) to make sure you get the place you want. If anyone has done this or knows about doing this, please share your thoughts! Our trip will be primarily centered around visiting the Vatican, so any pointers about that would be great too!

It's so nice to be planning trips again! I live for this. :)

Oh sweet mother of crimony!!!! There is SO much more to see than just the vatican. It is the truly awe inspiring and amazing tip of the iceberg, but there's SO. MUCH. MORE!!!! Just in the neighborhood of churches there is.

I said *PRIMARILY*. Of course there's more I want to see, like the Colosseum and everything else. We even talked about doing a day trip OUT of Rome, if we have time. So tell me, if I had to see one thing besides St. Peter's, what do you recommend?
