Shame

(bagpipes playing taps)

Actually... I'm a little bit ashamed of the Cardinals. They couldn't bring home ONE WIN in the series. Not one. We were being hailed as the best team in baseball, lots of people didn't think the Sox could beat us, and we get swept. In our own home stadium even. I'd be more happy for the Sox if we could've beat them just once or twice... but this was just shameful. Bad Cardinals. BAD!!!!

Jax's wound was swollen because of the pressure against the sutures when he bends or moves his little leg too much. They want us to move him as little as possible (i.e, carrying him up and down stairs, not walking him, keeping him still as much as possible at home), but that is just ridiculous to expect of us. It is so frustrating. We have antibiotics to give him in case there's a possibility of infection, but this is the best we can do for him right now. I feel so horrible for him. One and a half more weeks of this until the sutures come out....

I think I'm in the same frame of mind I was when we beat Houston: "Whoa..." I'm almost apathetic about the loss. I managed to wake up last night in time to see the last two innings, and when it was over, my first thought was, "Aw, that's nice for the Red Sox." Followed immediately by, "Is that Jimmy Fallon??? What the hell is he doing there?!? And who is that girl he's trying to swallow?? Geez..." I feel bad for our guys, but something happened between beating LA and playing Houston that changed our team, and I wish I knew what it was. I'm guessing that the pressure got to them, and they didn't know quite how to deal with it. I just hope that wasn't Edgar Renteria's last at-bat with the team. That would just be sad. I already think that Kline's gone, so I hope Edgar stays.

I know that Jax is a handful for you right now, but just think how he's gonna be when he's healed! He'll be so spoiled, he won't go outside again. Unless trumpets sound and you carry him downstairs on his red velvet pillow... :) Heh. That would be hilarious. I could just see him sporting a tiny crown and a little purple cape. "ALL HAIL KING JAX!! NOW EVERYONE TURN AROUND SO KING JAX CAN GO POTTY!! RESPECT KING JAX'S PRIVACY!!!"

What can I say .. the Red Sox cleaned our clocks.

Look, the entire nation wanted the Sox to win this series. It is never good to go into a World Series as "the bad guys". The Cards were demoralized from the beginning by the Sox' well-deserved triumph over the Yankees. Yes it is disappointing to lose the World Series but hey, we GOT there to begin with, we are the BEST on the National League, and we had a kickass year and none of that can be taken away from us. Let the Sox have their day and feel happy for them, I say.

Besides, check this quote from Curt Schilling on Good Morning America:

GIBSON: "Well, well said, Curt and Shonda. You both have certainly lifelong membership now in the Red Sox nation. It was a great thing to watch, and I think everybody – whether they were great Red Sox fans or not — had to admire what this team did. It was extraordinary, and one of the great stories of sport. And sport always produces such great stories. Curt, Shonda, great to have you with us. Congratulations."SCHILLING: "And make sure you tell everybody to vote, and vote Bush next week."My respect for Curt just bumped up a notch. ;) Not only is he a Bush supporter but he plugged him on Good Morning America. That's ballsy!

And yeah, I suspect we are all going to have to bow to King Jax. :)
