Back from France

Sorry, I didn't get to use internet at all on the trip. We were too busy. So busy, but did hardly anything. We did a lot of hotel inspections and not enough sightseeing. And in Lyon I got so sick that I stayed in bed most of the first day there. I missed out on the city tour. Still not feeling great. Anyways when I feel better I'll give you a day-by-day rundown but right now I'M too rundown to do it. And I will post pictures at some point. Not now though. Getting some more sleep...

Busy France Itinerary

We got our itinerary finally. It was chock-full of "hotel inspections," which basically means we just check out the hotels our clients could book themselves in, just to have a feel for the place. They show us the rooms, facilities, etc. But there were SO MANY hotels we were scheduled to see that we were worried we'd be overloaded, and not have enough time to see much else. This is the first time to Paris for most of us so they'll see if they can cut some of the hotel visits out so we can see some actual Paris sights. Some of these inspections include lunch or dinner though, so we won't be nixing those! For example, I'll be having lunch at a hotel by the Arc de Triomphe on our first day... that'll be sweet.

I also heard something about getting to take a river cruise of the Seine... awesome!!

And we get to take a train from Paris to Lyon. :) I love trains. I was happy to hear we were doing that instead of taking a flight.

Well I need to finish packing and go to bed early. If I get a chance at all I will visit this blog and post a note, but with our itinerary I think it might be difficult. I will try though!!

Not Knowing

The France trip is one week from today, and I still don't know much about our plans. All I know is we leave for Paris on the 22nd, come back on the 27th, and go to Lyon somewhere in that time. I'm thinking Sunday because that fits with the two nights in Paris/two nights in Lyon rough itinerary we were told. I have the (tentative) times of our flights in and out of Paris, but nothing else. It's kind of exciting though, knowing that on this trip I am mainly along for the ride, and I don't have to be responsible for what we'll be doing or seeing. It'll be nice to just go with the flow and let others take charge. Still... I'm going shopping this weekend for stuff to wear in France and I'd like SOME idea of what we'll be doing! I guess it will all come next week, only days before we leave. Cool.

An Italian Preview

This is not as cool of a job perk as the one mentioned in my last post, but a couple nights ago my work gave me free tickets to see "The Light in the Piazza" at the Fox Theatre (and let me leave early so I could get ready. What a great job). :) It was a cute show. Simple romantic boy-meets-girl plot, beautiful sets, and the actors were all great singers. What I loved most about it, though, was that the majority of the show takes place in Florence, with one scene in Rome: two of the cities I will be visiting on my trip to Italy. :) The sets were really amazing, giving the feel of a real Italian sidestreet or plaza or café or museum. It almost made me want to take notes and see if Florence will really be anything like what they portrayed on stage. :)

And another little sidenote: I'm reading a historical fiction/romance series that my sister-in-law loaned me, and at the end of the first book, the characters planned on going to Rome together, but at the beginning of the second book they ended up taking a trip to Paris first. How telltale is that?? Heeheehee.
