Counting Down

Air tickets: Bought. Apartment: Booked. Tours: Planned. Mood: Excited.

I got an Italian-learning home-study course from a friend for Christmas, so hopefully that should do me for learning... she says this is a good program, so I'm excited to try it out. My mom also got a different Italian program, so maybe we can help each other. :) We have five months to pick up at least some of the language!

Booked

The Rome tickets are bought!! It's really real! :) And we already have some of our tours scheduled, I think. We're still working on finding a place to stay... but we've been asking about a particular apartment that we found on RentalinRome.com. I really hope that works out. It's a gorgeous place.

My parents were excited about the idea of me taking an Italian class. I haven't totally decided if I'm gonna do it though. Could be really worth it though. I will just have no free evenings. Except after 7:30 on work nights. That's the only thing holding me back right now...

Basic Italian?

I decided that since I'm going to Italy in May next year, I should probably learn some simple Italian. It'll be my first time going to a country where the first language isn't English. And any native there would at least appreciate the effort. So I'm wondering... what's the best way to go about this? Pick up an audio CD and/or workbook? Enroll in a community college course? I found one at my school on Thursday nights for $60, but I'm also taking another class-- accounting, blah--on Monday nights and don't want to take up all my free nights with classes...but it could be well worth it. Anyone have any luck learning the basics of another language through some self-teaching program? If so, point me towards the series you used. Grazi! (Did I spell that right?? AUGH!)

Updated Links

I have removed some links from my sidebar. I just wanted to add a note that if you no longer see your blog linked in my sidebar, do not be alarmed. Be assured that I still love you; I just had reasons for removing the link, such as 1) your blog has moved elsewhere and I don't have the link (ahem Co-bin), 2) I have more convenient ways of accessing your blog rather than through these links, or 3) a combination of the above. :) Just wanted you to know.
